| The drawing shows one way to convert the strut for use as an upright. This conversion requires some more machine work for the upper mount, but avoids the use of a spherical rod end, which may have limited travel. The Moog K9626 is a Toyota truck upper ball joint. The taper fits the strut's lower mount without the need for any reaming. The Moog 772 is a Chrysler ('57-89) upper joint. It is a little heavier than the Toyota part. The use of the strut can be avoided by substituting HiAce van parts. The van upright has the same 4-1/2" PCD as the cars. It will have to be reamed to use the Moog rod end and ball joint. |
